Create full-color terrain packages for online 3D print services.

1) Location & Shapes

Search results can zoom the map; Fit extent sets the chart extent to the tighter of a rotated ellipse or rectangle covering the result. When an exact OSM boundary is available, Add includes it in the model, Remove subtracts it, and Outline strokes its border on the texture without changing the selection.

Extra margin Fit extent adds around the fitted shape — applies to search-result fits above and the GPX track fit below. Moving this live-updates the current extent if it hasn't been hand-edited since it was fit.

Search-result boundaries choose add or remove per button; rectangles and ellipses follow the mode above. All shapes stack into the shape list. An Extent rectangle or ellipse turns the model into a chart: add shapes become the full-color focus and other land inside the extent prints as muted context.

2) Chart

No chart yet — draw an Extent shape, or use Fit extent on a search result, to turn the model into a chart. Chart options appear here.

Neighboring land inside the chart extent: flat shows it in faded colors but printed at exactly the base thickness; muted keeps its honest relief in the same faded colors; flatten prints it as sea.

Strokes the chart focus outline and any outline shapes on the texture — only where the line separates two different lands: the chart focus against neighboring context land, or an outline's inside against the land around it. Coastlines, islands, and open-sea stretches leave no marks.

Outline draws a place's political boundary as a line — on land only, without adding its land to the model.

3) Water & Sea

Smaller islands are removed — or flattened into the water base when it is on. Dropped land shows gray and dashed on the map (approximate).

One printable slab of sea connects every piece of the model — no gaps, no holes.

Satellite imagery keeps the real ocean but can show capture seams. Homogeneous paints all sea one water color sampled from the imagery — clean and print-friendly; the map preview's water tint follows this choice.

4) Model

Choose mesh detail independent of print size.

Select an area to estimate how visible vertical relief will be.

Caps the downloaded ZIP's size by auto-shrinking the packaged texture (the 3D preview stays full resolution); if it's still over at minimum texture quality, the status suggests a lower Detail setting. Leave empty for no limit.

5) Extras

No tracks loaded.

Sets the chart extent to fit every point of every loaded track (uses the Fit padding % in step 1). Disabled until a track is loaded.

These are defaults applied only to files you upload from now on — editing them does not restyle files already loaded above. Use each loaded file's own row (or its per-track overrides) to restyle it.

0 keeps every track point; higher values simplify the path for cleaner printing.

This source is baked into exported color textures.

Output is always a closed, full-color OBJ package sized for online service upload.

Notes
  • Google Satellite is not bundled because of licensing/API restrictions; use a custom URL if you have rights.
  • Some providers rate-limit requests. Reduce detail if generation fails.
  • Upload the downloaded ZIP to an online 3D print service that supports textured OBJ color models.
  • Reference labels overlay is preview-only and is not baked into exported textures.
